Built this Mod over the Weekend: An action wheel for builds, summons, and playable dragons. Would love some feedback
Been working on this a lot over the weekend, and it’s finally coming together enough to show people.
The idea is an action wheel that lets you change things during gameplay without constantly digging through menus. So far I’ve got it handling:
- Weapons, dual-wield sets, builds, and spell selection
- Weapon infusions and glowing body auras
- Spawning allies or enemies, then taking control of your summons
- Switching between player skins and altered move-sets, including mid-combat
The dragon stuff is probably my favorite part. You can control an actual Ancient Dragon summon with its attacks and a working camera, or use a humanoid dragon form that keeps your normal weapons and combat. There are Stone, Golden, Obsidian, and Crimson versions with matching elemental auras and weapon effects.
My bigger ambition is to build an Ancient Dragon questline with its own ending—starting with Yura and Agheel, exploring Dragon Communion, and eventually letting you choose between paths involving Placidusax, Bayle, or Fortissax. There’s so much dragon lore I’d love to explore through something playable. That part is still very much a work in progress.
To give credit where it’s due: the summon system, dragon skins, and several movesets come from other modders. My work is mainly the wheel, custom features, and getting those pieces to work together and switch smoothly. This is an offline sandbox project, and there’s still plenty to iron out.
Next I’d like to add easier boss rematches/arena fights and more movesets. I’m also working toward a contextual lore tab: nearby locations, bosses, NPCs, and quest steps could suggest relevant wiki entries and timestamped lore videos.
This is my first mod project, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who’ve done this before. Anything you’d change about the wheel, or mods/tools worth looking into for compatibility? Also curious which features people would actually use most.
