Meet Yousif, an ESP32 tinkerer we caught up with at Maker Faire Hannover. 🔧 His little orange desk companion, Clawd Mochi, makes a cameo at the end. 👀 Explore his project: yousifamanuel/clawd-mochi To be continued... 🎬 #OpenELAB #ESP32 #Makerfaire t.co
I gave the Clawd Mochi desk toy a new brain: it reacts to Claude Code, shows my usage limits, music, calendar and more The Clawd Mochi is a fan-made ESP32-C3 desk toy by Yousuf Amanuel (yousifamanuel/clawd-mochi): a 3D-printed Clawd with a 240×240 screen. I built one, then rewrote its software with Claude Code doing most of the work: reading the stock firmware, writing the new one, flashing it, and debugging it through a live screen mirror. What it does now: - **Clawd is alive:** he breathes, blinks, glances around, hops, side-eyes you, and gets sleepy late at night - **Claude Code hooks:** he mumbles "Pondering…" / "Purring…" while Claude thinks, scans during tool calls, flashes yellow when a permission prompt needs me, and celebrates `> <` when it's done (works with OpenCode too) - **Pages:** Claude 5h/weekly usage, clock, focus timer, music with album art, PC stats + history graphs, weather, Google Calendar, notifications - Everything runs over USB, plus a web controller and a desktop bar widget with a live mirror of the screen All credit for the hardware, case and original firmware goes to Yousuf.
