nxnative

What does it do?

nxnative turns a folder of Nintendo Switch game files (NSP) into an unsigned IPA, an app package that can be installed on an iPhone or iPad. [1a][1b][1c] It is not an emulator: the game's own code runs directly on the Apple chip, with Switch graphics rebuilt on Metal. [2] A supported use case is playing your own Switch games natively on iPhone, iPad, or Mac; adding --platform mac-app produces a Mac app of the game. [3a][3b]

Currently trending because

  • One user reports Splatoon Raiders, a Switch 2 game, running natively on Mac at an initial stable 60 fps on an M4 Max. [1]
  • nxnative recompiles games and translates Switch graphics to Metal instead of emulating. [2]
