Tutorial on how to get osu!lazer! on IOS via side loading
Since osu!lazer is still being worked on for an official App Store release, you can install it on your iPhone manually using Sideloadly.
I saw some people on TikTok and here asking for tutorials so I decided to help.
What you need
A MacBook or another compatible computer
Your iPhone and a USB cable
Your Apple ID
Sideloadly
Step 1: Download Sideloadly
Go to sideloadly.io and download Sideloadly for macOS. Install it and open the program.
Step 2: Download the osu! iOS file
On your MacBook, go to the official osu! GitHub releases page:
github.com/ppy/osu/releases
Find the 2026.1013.0-tachyon release, expand Assets, and download the file named osu.iOS.ipa.
Step 3: Connect your iPhone
Connect your iPhone to your MacBook using a cable. Unlock your phone and tap Trust if it asks whether you trust the computer.
Step 4: Set up Sideloadly
Open Sideloadly and select your iPhone under iDevice. Enter your Apple ID email in the Apple ID field.
Drag the osu.iOS.ipa file into the IPA section on the left side of the window, then click Start. Follow any prompts and wait for Sideloadly to finish installing the app.
Step 5: Enable Developer Mode
Once the installation is complete, go to your iPhone and open:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode
Turn it on. Your iPhone will restart, and you’ll need to confirm that you want to enable Developer Mode after it boots back up.
Step 6: Open osu!
After Developer Mode is enabled, find osu! on your Home Screen and open it. You’re ready to play!
Note: Only download the IPA from the official osu! GitHub releases page. Sideloading with a free Apple ID may require you to reinstall or refresh the app’s signature periodically, typically every seven days. So after it expires all you do is open connect your iPhone to your Mac, open sideloadly select your iPhone, and click Start again with the same IPA file. This refreshes the signature.

This project is probably vibe slopped but I still cannot believe the amount of missing stuff in lazer which I really want to use. A good example is this osu#8357 which has a fully ready pr but no one has reviewed it yet.

is osu! missing a collaborative multiplayer experience?
so recently i've been learning about World of Warcraft (yeah somehow i've never played it before lol) and raids are a huge part of that game. it got me thinking about whether such a collective experience can be achieved in osu! at the moment, because it seems that individual competition seems to be the gold standard in the community (e.g. the default pp ranking system, and now the new Ranked Play mode in lazer). even in team matches (OWC, Corsace...), it's essentially the combination of 4 players' individual performance on the entire map that determines a win or loss.
i previously suggested an upgrade to the co-op feature and i think it would be a great opportunity to design a gameplay experience similar to a WoW raid. basically, players would swap turns on a specific point in the map (a "swap trigger", essentially a bookmark) instead of every new combo - this way, greater flexibility can be achieved by the mapper in designing the gameplay experience for co-op.
thus, a 20 minute "raid boss" map could be made that demands various different skills throughout the map (e.g. deathstreams, high BPM alt, aim/finger control, etc.). players could then organize into "guilds" (spontaneously via matchmaking, or semi-professionally via dedicated teams) and plan their strategy to pass the map together.
maybe i'm not engaged in the community enough, but i can't think of an example in osu! comparable to what i'm describing here. yes, mappers frequently collaborate on making maps, and players collaborate on 100% ranked completion or achievement hunting, but the "raid experience" from a player's perspective is absent.
i think it's a good idea because it adds a dimension to the game at no cost/sacrifice to the other dimensions of osu! (some which i already mentioned). but what do you guys think?

@johncodes @Devsohib this one does reject any contributions with AI-generated code or even AI-assistance (they'll turn you down once they feel AI was used to write the code)
