Polyend published the full source code to the Tracker firmware, for all three devices.
That's sick, and then maybe I can attempt to fix the bugs that prevent me from using my OG tracker as much as I'd like myself.

Big release for the #PolyendTracker
Excited to give out a try. Fixed an audio export bug that caused annoying drift.

They do provide the API for these blobs. Is that what you're asking about?
I would assume with something like this we can take a synth engine from something like Surge and then wrap it up with these APIs to have it run inside Tracker - unless I'm mistaken about something.
_Edit:_ digging a bit further, yeah, the API is used to build new synths and the blob does _something_ in the firmware to get it up and running. I don't have a Tracker+ or Tracker Mini to noodle around with this though.

Really interesting to see this happening across the music tech landscape. Wonder what this means for what you can do with the synth engine, and which parts they're not opening? "Binary blobs for libPolySynth.a and libPolyDSP.a with a LICENSE-PROPRIETARY.txt. Maybe they provide primitives that you can call into? Would need to look much deeper but interested if anyone has a quicker take than I do

They published the tracker-lib a bit ago (polyend/tracker-lib) so maybe this was always in the works? But it feels timely given whats going on in music hardware atm. Regardless of any stance on vibe coding, this is a cool resource.
Whoa. Ok. This is actually pretty cool: in the wake of all the vibecoded firmware for music hardware, Polyend has open sourced a “Community Edition” of its Tracker firmware (one of the best little black music making boxes, imo)
Polyend just open source their tracker code base!
Wow here’s the GitHub repo! Game changer for Polyend!! And this is just the beginning for the industry! This is how you do it, release the source code of your existing products not release a new product that’s open source, forcing people to buy something else.
