[Open-source] TheySay: watch X, Threads, and Discord feeds on one screen
Hey r/macapps!
I'm thrilled to share an open-source app that I've been building/using called "TheySay".
Problem: Following high-signal accounts across X (Twitter), Threads, and Discord usually means juggling a dozen browser tabs or getting sucked into algorithmic "For You" feeds. I built TheySay to bring specific accounts and channels from all three platforms onto a single customizable desktop grid (1x1 up to 4x4). Posts appear as clean chronological chat bubbles with global keyword muting, per-account desktop notifications, and automatic $TICKER highlighting ($NVDA, $BTC) for market watchers.
Pricing & Links:
- Price: $0 (100% Free for personal use, no subscriptions, no ads, signed & notarized for macOS)
- GitHub Repo: laike9m/TheySay
- Download (.dmg): github.com/laike9m/TheySay/releases/latest
About the Developer (Trust & Transparency): Since this is a brand-new repository distributed outside the Mac App Store, here is a bit about my background per the new sub rules:
- GitHub Track Record: github.com/laike9m (10+ years on GitHub, 2.5k followers, author of many open-source projects like).
- Privacy: TheySay runs 100% locally on your Mac. There are no middleman servers, no telemetry, and your login sessions never leave your device.
Would love to hear your feedback or feature requests!

Comparison: Unlike X Pro (TweetDeck), which is locked behind a paid X Premium subscription and only supports X, TheySay is free and lets you view X profiles, Threads creators, and Discord channels side-by-side in one unified grid. Unlike multi-messenger wrappers like Ferdium or Rambox that just put full web apps into separate tabs, TheySay extracts posts into a distraction-free, chat-style card layout where you can see up to 16 feeds at the same time and click any message to read the full thread or media in a popup.
