What it is
Horizon is an independent implementation of Minecraft Java Edition written from scratch in Rust. It bypasses the Java virtual machine to deliver native performance, advanced rendering features, and a programmatic control interface.
How it works
The engine relies on modern graphics stacks like Vulkan and Wgpu for rendering. It uses a custom launcher to prepare game assets from an existing user installation and employs 281 differential harnesses to check parity against the vanilla game.
Key features
- Run vanilla world generation, mobs, redstone, and commands without Java
- Render distant terrain up to 1024 chunks using modern graphics APIs
- Control the game programmatically or over control interfaces using horizon-ctl
- Import CurseForge and Modrinth modpacks containing content and data packs
- Manage and host servers locally or on a VPS without Java dependencies
Getting started
Clone the repository from GitHub, ensure you have a Rust toolchain installed, and use the Horizon launcher to prepare your game assets from an existing legitimate installation.
When not to use it
Do not use this if you expect complete zero-bug compatibility today, as the project is still tracking hundreds of open parity gaps with the original Java release.

What it is
Horizon is a clean-room reimplementation of Minecraft Java Edition written entirely in Rust. It replaces the traditional Java runtime environment with a high-performance native binary designed to interface directly with existing vanilla assets, saves, and resource packs.
How it works
By leveraging low-level graphics APIs and rigorous differential testing against vanilla mechanics across 281 harnesses, Horizon achieves full game loop compatibility while bypassing JVM overhead entirely. It reads existing save files and assets natively without requiring translation layers.
Key features
- Run vanilla worlds, mobs, redstone, and commands natively through a high-performance Rust binary
- Automate gameplay or integrate automation via horizon-ctl and Model Context Protocol endpoints
- Render distant terrain up to 1024 chunks with custom graphics presets and controller support
- Host dedicated servers easily without requiring a Java runtime environment
- Import compatible CurseForge and Modrinth modpacks built around data and asset overrides
Getting started
Clone the repository from GitHub and ensure you have a modern Rust toolchain installed. Build the project using Cargo to launch the binary or configure your server instances.
When not to use it
While an engineering masterpiece for systems programmers and bot builders, casual players will still encounter missing feature gaps compared to the official client.

Incari Client Now Running On Browser Rust Rewrite
Howdy folks,
A few days ago, I announced that I had developed a very experimental port of Horizon (horizon-rust/horizon, rewrite of MC in rust) to the browser, showcasing its incredible performance. You can find it here: nobuildersnotools/horizon-web
Today, I am announcing that Incari Client now uses this experimental port for an even more experimental Rust option. This brings all of the features from Incari Client to horizon-web, giving you incredible performance while not compromising on the Incari experience.
Incari main modules menu, in Rust
Demonstrating Incari Cosmetics working in Rust
I must emphasize, once again, that this is **EXTREMELY** experimental, and is probably loaded with bugs. Nonetheless, I think it is a great area to invest time and effort in for the payoff in performance and ease of development that it provides.
Source code: incari-client/incari-client
Play: incariclient.org
Note that there is not a single HTML file option for Rust at this time due to some technical constraints, but it is at the top of my list of TODOs.

原始链接:horizon-rust/horizon

Rust Minecraft (Horizon) Ported To Browser
Howdy folks,
I'm sure some of you have heard about the recent rewrite of all of Minecraft in Rust, through the Horizon project (horizon-rust/horizon). Someone actually made a post on here a few days ago talking about how this would be a great target to run in the browser, so I went out and did just that.
Horizon running in the browser
To be clear, this is a bit of a burner project for me, and is just a proof of concept at this time. It does not aim to be quality, or provide any kind of special experience. It is just an experiment. Now that being said, I do think there is a lot of potential here, especially on the performance side of things.
Some of you probably recognize me as the guy that created Incari Client, so here's an interesting metric:
Incari Client world creation time: 7s
Horizon Web world creation time: 1s
These will obviously change depending on your hardware, and will especially increase on school chromebooks. On this same machine though, the game boots in a fraction of a second.
You can try this out for yourself at the links below:
incariclient.org
web.carrot-craft.org
Source code: nobuildersnotools/horizon-web
Note that upstream is doing like a hundred commits every four hours, so gameplay fixes should go upstream and not to my repo. Web stuff can be PRed to that repo.
I am open to suggestions, but please remember this is not intended to be a polished product...
