For anyone curious, this is the kind of thing I'm referring to when I say "hard" coding problem. It's more than just "coding" because it was coming up with the ideas to explore (guided). That also makes for a fun session. rust-brotli-decompressor#95
If you have a large dropbox plan, they have a CLI that's way more interesting with competent agents dropbox/dbxcli
Rust-Brotli (by Dropbox) is actually a drop-in replacement for the Brotli C lib: dropbox/rust-brotli Dropbox switched to it a decade ago, so it's probably quite product-ready.
dropbox/rust-brotli OMG IT IS LITERALLY ABI COMPATIBLE. You can just build it and drop in replace the C version. WHY ARE WE NOT ALL USING THIS?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah but file size and lossless conversion of existing JPEG are something done by many other codecs. Dropbox famously developed Lepton[0] to compress existing JPEGs losslessly. There need to be some other factors that would lead to increased mindshare. [0]: dropbox/lepton And Lepton is dead.
