An insane user called Macfixer1 has set up a typosquatting repository that claims to distribute a special build designed for T1 Macs that impesonates both the independent T2 project and Dortania's mainstream one as well
An insane user called Macfixer1 has set up a typosquatting repository 2 months ago that claims to distribute a special build designed for T1 Macs. They took from the former OpenCore Legacy Patcher T2 (now it is no longer called like this) executable from Matteo's fork (known as Medelcartelinc) and started distributing the same installer in this typosquatting repository. They uploaded a special version that doesn't have an equivalent in my repo that was called 4.9.0. I can't verify but it could be malicious. The reason is that Medelcartelinc back then didn't released any SHA256 certificates and I was releasing them on hand instead of using an action.
Worse, it doesn't include the source code of this typosquatting repository at all.
I'd assume it's malicious until proven otherwise.

Have you faced any problem when FileVault is on?
I am experimenting OCLP 3.0.0-rc.3. I have Tahoe installed on iMac 2017 (18,3) with no issues so far. But I wonder if it will handle FileVault feature without any problem, as the OS resides on external SSD drive connected via thunderbolt port. I haven't turned it on yet. Thanks for devs for their efforts btw.

OpenCore Legacy Patcher: Experience macOS just like before (19k stars)
What it does
All text below is quoted directly from the project README.
>A Python-based project revolving around Acidanthera's OpenCorePkg and Lilu for both running and unlocking features in macOS on supported and unsupported Macs.
Our project's main goal is to breathe new life into Macs no longer supported by Apple, allowing for the installation and usage of macOS Big Sur and newer on machines as old as 2007.
Noteworthy features of OpenCore Legacy Patcher:
- Support for macOS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia
- Native Over the Air (OTA) System Updates
- Supports Penryn and newer Macs
- Full support for WPA Wi-Fi and Personal Hotspot on BCM943224 and newer wireless chipsets
- System Integrity Protection, FileVault 2, .im4m Secure Boot and Vaulting
- Recovery OS, Safe Mode and Single-user Mode booting on non-native OSes
- Unlocks features such as Sidecar and AirPlay to Mac even on native Macs
- Enables enhanced SATA and NVMe power management on non-Apple storage devices
- Zero firmware patching required (ie. APFS ROM patching)
- Graphics acceleration for both Metal and non-Metal GPUs
>Note: Only clean-installs and upgrades are supported.

@nettenapp Steps:
1. Check the model. On the 2011 Mac, go to Apple menu → About This Mac → System Report. You need MacBookPro8,1, 8,2 or 8,3; all three are on OCLP's supported list.
2. Download OCLP 3.0.0 RC2 from the official Dortania GitHub releases page (github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/relea…). Only download it there, never from a video link or a mirror.
3. Make the installer. Open OCLP, choose "Create macOS Installer", then "Download macOS Installer", pick Tahoe 26.x, and flash it to the USB stick.
4. Install OpenCore to the USB stick. In OCLP, choose "Build and Install OpenCore", then Install to disk, and select the USB stick.
5. Boot from the stick. Restart while holding Option (⌥), pick "EFI Boot", then pick the macOS installer.
6. Install. Open Disk Utility, erase the internal disk as APFS, then run "Install macOS". It restarts several times; each time, choose the disk via EFI Boot again if asked.
7. Root patches (essential on a 2011). After first login, OCLP should prompt you to "Post-Install Root Patch". Accept it and restart. That's what makes graphics, Wi-Fi and brightness work on the old hardware.
8. Make it boot without the USB stick. In OCLP, choose "Build and Install OpenCore" again, but this time install to the internal disk. Then remove the stick.
