Announcing Xhaust: A weaponised car combat racing game Hello everyone, I just launched the steam page for my indie combat racing game called Xhaust Screenshots are attached to help you gauge if it is even worth your time to continue reading Trailer: youtube.com Store page: store.steampowered.com Its an indie solo project, and just like every other Indie game dev that never post anything until the final moment, I am finally posting about it with a store page 😅 . The game has single player, split screen, and online multiplayer. For online multiplayer, I will be delusional to think I can make up a player base to fill lobbies for a new game from an unknown developer like myself. So, I will be releasing the server binary so that anyone will be able to host their game (I fully support stop killing games initiative 👍 ). Also, for an indie game like this, realistically, the server adds running cost 😓 The game is at its best when playing with friends. No, I'm not trying to sell more copies, it has no DRM BTW, just saying 😉 . Split screen, or online, the amount of memories I have made in the past with similar games is what prompted me to make this game in the first place. Tech talk (skip if you are not interested) Networking: The game uses client side prediction, restimulation and a fully server authoritative networking model for which I had to write my own Jolt Integration for Unreal engine. I have released it as an open source plugin called UnrealJolt (Just jolt integration, does not have the netcode) (10) Sounds: The engine sounds! These came out of desperation mostly, because it is almost impossible to record flawless engine sounds as a solo indie dev. So, this game uses engine-sim as an alternative. It is CPU intensive, and might not work for all, but for those that do, it sounds amazing (there is fallback audio which is the default). All credits to github.com/ange-yaghi (engine-sim) and github.com/nicholas477 (port to unreal engine) Demo will be coming soon, and if anyone is interested in playtesting, let me know. Thank you 😃 Discord : discord.gg (just created it for play testers because I've only been testing it with my buddies) Twitter: x.com
Nostalgic! It'd be amazing to hook is up with the engine sound simulator: ange-yaghi/engine-sim
Simulated engine sound mod for Ride 6 I can't post to the Ride 6 subreddit, so I'll just post it there. So I've been tinkering with this engine simulator made by Ange , and thought to myself, why not try to make a mod that uses this simulator on Ride 6? So here it is. I still need to polish the sloppy code written by AI... so I'll publish the mod later after. There's also still a lot more things that I can improve, so yeah. But so far, it still sounds way better than the stock one. Here's two other video showcasing other bikes. - ZX-4R (The bugged one) - Ducati V4R
