Discord for JB PS5 is out (alpha), with voice, Go Live, and I need a name Hey all, I'm following up on my old post . I said the alpha would land by 29/10, so sorry it's a couple of days late. I had to fix few more bugs and I wanted in-app updates working first, so you only have to FTP it once. Download: github.com/abhi245y/ps5-discord/releases/latest What's in it right now - Sign in by scanning a QR code with the Discord app on your phone (browser sign-in if Discord throws a captcha at you) - Servers, channels and DMs: read, send, reply, react, edit, delete - Colour emoji, an emoji picker and stickers, the animated ones too - Voice calls in server channels and DMs, end-to-end encrypted like the desktop app - Go Live: stream your game into a voice call while you play - Notifications for DMs and mentions, including PS5 alerts while you're in a game - Now playing: Your friends see what you're playing on your Discord profile - Updates from inside the app (Settings > About), and you can roll back if a new version gives you trouble How Go Live works (it's a bit of a hack, so read this before you try it) The PS5 doesn't let homebrew capture the screen or use the mic while a game is in front. So the app opens a Remote Play session with your own console and streams that picture into the call. While you're live, the DualSense has to be plugged in by USB. It plays the game through that Remote Play session and works as your headset: you talk into its mic and hear the call through its speaker or headphones plugged into it. It works. I've been gaming with friends watching. But it has quirks: - Bluetooth controllers don't work for Go Live yet. - Unplug and replug the controller between streams. The app reminds you. - Without Go Live, voice only works while the app is on screen. I'm already working on letting the controller stay wireless during Go Live. It isn't ready, but it's the next big thing on my list. There's a step-by-step guide for voice and Go Live, and a troubleshooting page, linked from the release page. Two things I'd love your input on 1. A Discord server for the project? If enough people are interested, I'll set one up so updates, test builds and bug reports have a home that isn't a Reddit thread. Let me know if you'd join. 2. The name. "ps5-discord" is only the working title, and the app's name isn't final. Right now I'm torn between pscord and uncord. Got a better one? Drop it in the comments. NOTE it's an alpha, only tested on firmware 13.00. Bug reports go on GitHub issues with logs (preferred) Thanks to everyone who commented on the first post. I have added a video of "Go Live" working in the comments... Update: Found a way to use controllers wirelessly during voice calls and potentially live streaming. Currently requires a Bluetooth headset for voice audio. Confirmed working in the background while gaming during voice calls. Live streaming test is next.

Open-source dash platform for the Ola S1 Pro Gen 1: swappable themes, plugins, CAN reference and an AI-agent skill (early WIP) I built an open dash SDK for the S1 Gen 1 (~70 MB vs ~640 MB stock), a community CAN reference, and an AI skill to build on them TL;DR: Three open-source projects for Ola S1 Gen 1 tinkerers. A replacement dashboard platform anyone can theme and extend, a community reference of the scooter's CAN messages, and an AI-agent skill that helps you build on both. Early WIP, unofficial, not affiliated with Ola Electric. 1. Ola Dash SDK: abhi245y/ola-dash-sdk An alternative dashboard for the S1 Pro Gen 1 head unit (Android 10), built with Slint. - Light: the stock dash uses ~640 MB of RAM on my scooter; this one ~70 MB. That leaves room for things like an Android Auto receiver. - Swappable themes: a theme is a folder of .slintfiles plus a small theme.json, loaded at runtime. Three reference themes ship: - Segment: a seven-segment LCD-style face, like a fuel pump readout. Unknown values show as unlit segments instead of a fake 0. - Data Fields: a cycling-computer style grid. - Default: a modern EV arc gauge. - Covers the everyday states: riding, Park , easy park, charging, an Open Trunk button, media, plugin widgets and a navigation card. - Themed lock screen: each theme can restyle the passcode keypad, but the app itself draws the keypad and handles the passcode. A theme never sees it. - Plugins: separate Android apps can add widgets, now-playing info or navigation. They're display-only and you enable each one. [Experimental] - Safety first: warnings (side stand, fall, faults, low battery) are always drawn by the app on top of any theme. Themes can move and restyle them but never hide them. - The only vehicle action a theme can even request is opening the trunk, and the app allows that only when the scooter is unlocked, in Park and stopped. - Design on your PC: a desktop simulator plays a fake ride (or park, charging, lock screen, alerts), so you can design themes without a scooter. - It builds from a clean checkout and CI builds the APK. It talks to the scooter through our own clean-room interface definitions, not Ola's code. 2. Ola CAN Reference: abhi245y/ola-can-reference A versioned, evidence-based catalog of Gen 1 CAN messages, signals and enums, with a small decoder and templates for adding findings. Every entry says where the knowledge came from and how sure we are. Corrections and "this didn't work" results are welcome. 3. Ola Dev Skill: abhi245y/ola-dev-skill An AI-agent skill for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor. It teaches your coding agent the SDK contract, the theme and plugin rules and the CAN reference, so you can say "make me a theme like X" or "build a plugin that shows Y" and get something that follows the safety rules. It re-syncs automatically when the SDK or CAN reference changes. Install instructions per agent are in its README. Honest limits - Gen 1 S1 Pro only so far, and it needs a rooted head unit. - Debug builds, and things can change between commits (pre-1.0). - The latest build (new themes, lock screen, trunk button) still has to be tested on the scooter. Bugs will be fixed as they turn up. How you can help - Designers: make a theme. The simulator runs on a normal PC; screenshots of ideas are welcome too. - Android devs: plugins, e.g. maps/turn-by-turn, phone battery, weather, trip stats. - Gen 2 / S1 X / S1 Air owners: logs and observations so other models can be supported. - Researchers: CAN signals, units and corrections for the reference. - Issues, ideas and PRs welcome on GitHub. Related projects are listed in the SDK repo, including ola-s1-rea and Axiom. PRs to add yours are welcome. Heads-up: This is a developer kit, not a finished app. The SDK is a toolkit for people who build software: designers and developers use it to make dashboards, themes and plugins. If you just want a new dash on your scooter, please wait for the standalone dash app I'm building on top of this SDK. It'll come with a step-by-step install guide for everyday owners. Until then, using the SDK directly needs a rooted head unit and some comfort with a terminal.

  3. Spotify is now running natively on a jailbroken PS5 without needing a PSN account. Spotless brings Spotify sign-in, music playback, and Now Playing controls to the console, with background music working while gaming. GitHub: abhi245y/spotless It supports free and Premium accounts, with a restore tool included. Firmware compatibility varies, so check the community reports before trying it. One more interesting project from the PS5 homebrew scene.

Spotless is out: native Spotify on jailbroken PS5, no PSN required Yesterday I posted about Spotless, a way to get the native Spotify app working on a jailbroken PS5 without linking a PSN account. The first release is now on GitHub. GitHub: abhi245y/spotless Release: github.com/abhi245y/spotless/releases What works: - Spotify sign-in with the on-screen code or Spotify Connect from your phone, no PSN - Works with both premium and free accounts. - Home, browsing, songs, videos and the rest of the native app - Now Playing card controls: pause, previous and next Background playback while gaming works without any workarounds Setup: 1. Install Spotify 01.017.000 (PPSA05688). The repo includes a tool to merge and verify the split package. 2. Load Spotless.elf with your ELF loader. 3. Open Spotify and wait on the login screen for the "UI patch installed" notification. 4. Close Spotify fully, reopen and sign in. You only do this once. The patch survives reboots and works without the jailbreak active. If you want the stock app back, load Spotless-Restore.elf. Tested: firmware 13.00 with Spotify 01.017.000. Other firmware versions aren't confirmed yet. If you try one, please report back in the comments or open an issue. Spotless checks the app's files before patching and refuses versions it doesn't recognise, so an unsupported version won't break anything. Known issue: Music > Music sources > Spotify still shows "Link" and sends you to Sony's linking screen. Spotify itself is signed in and playing, so you can ignore it. I'm still working on this one. Full guide, troubleshooting and rollback steps are in the repo. EDIT: Compatibility reports. I've only tested on 13.00, but people are reporting other firmwares too (9.60 confirmed working). If you try Spotless, please tell us whether it worked: Submit a compatibility report Results show up automatically in the compatibility table

Spot5: a native, standalone Spotify app for the jailbroken PS5. Home, Library, playlists. No PSN, no phone needed after the first login The official Spotify app on PS5 needs PSN, so I built my own. Spot5 is a native, standalone PS5 app, you browse and play your music right on the TV with the controller, like any other app on the console. What the app does: - Home**: your personal shelves, mixes and recently played, with full-screen artist artwork. Morning and evening shelves follow your time zone. - Your Library: all your playlists, albums and artists, with Liked Songs pinned first. Filter and sort with the shoulder buttons. - Playlist, album and artist pages: play from any song or shuffle. Artist pages have popular tracks, the bio, albums and singles. - Now Playing: big artwork, a live visualiser, seeking with the D-pad and triggers, and the queue beside it. You can jump to any song in the queue. - Built for the TV: native 4K (or 1440p/1080p), a mini player that follows you between screens, smooth animations (or reduce motion), and covers cached on the console so it opens instantly. - Settings: 96/160/320 kbps, volume, device name, time zone, resolution. - Spotify Connect as a bonus: Spot5 also shows up as a speaker in Spotify on your phone or PC, so you can control it from there when you want to. You only need your phone once: the first time you open Spot5, you pick "PS5" in the Spotify app to log in. After that it signs in by itself and you never need the phone again. Repo: abhi245y/spot5 Release: github.com/abhi245y/spot5/releases/tag/v1.0.0 Virus total check: virustotal.com Spot5 is built on cspot (feelfreelinux and philippe44), ps5-homebrew-ui by BlackBearReloaded, and the ps5-payload-dev SDK and elfldr. Big thanks to all of them. It's an unofficial project for personal use, not affiliated with Spotify or Sony. NOTE: The uploaded video is a gif hence low frame rate, the actual app run's at smooth 60fps.
