Stremio server permanently Offline on Samsung M80H / Tizen 10 after Samsung firmware update — apparently affecting multiple users
I'm posting this because I've been troubleshooting a Stremio problem on my Samsung TV for several weeks, and it now appears to be a fairly specific compatibility/firmware issue rather than a problem with my network, DNS, streaming sources, or account.
I originally reported it to Stremio on GitHub here:
stremio-bugs#2860
My setup
- TV: Samsung UN65M80HAFXZA (65" M80H)
- OS: Tizen 10
- Samsung firmware: T-PTMHAKUC-0100-1241.3
- Stremio: Theater v1.14.1
- Player: Exo
What happened
Stremio was working normally before the Samsung firmware update.
The TV was running firmware 1204.6, and Stremio's streaming server was working.
After Samsung updated the TV to firmware 1241.3, the Stremio server immediately started showing Offline permanently.
In Stremio:
Settings → Server → Offline
Clicking Reload does nothing.
When trying to play anything, I get:
"Stream failed to load"
The local server at:
http://127.0.0.1:11470/
does not respond.
This is particularly interesting because 127.0.0.1 is the TV's own local machine, so this isn't simply a case of Stremio being unable to reach a remote streaming source.
Troubleshooting I've already done
I've gone through the usual troubleshooting extensively:
- Cleared Stremio cache/data
- Completely reinstalled Stremio
- Restarted the TV
- Unplugged the TV
- Tested multiple networks
- Connected the TV to my cell phone's Wi-Fi hotspot
- Confirmed that the same Stremio account and streams work correctly on Windows and phone
- Changed DNS on the Samsung TV to 1.1.1.1
- Also tried 8.8.8.8
- IPv6 is disabled on my router
- Also tested using the phone hotspot with IPv6 disabled
- I am not using a VPN
None of these made any difference.
So the problem follows the Stremio installation on the TV, regardless of the network being used.
An especially important finding from another affected user
One of the comments on GitHub, from user aggi700-cmd, describes essentially the same problem on a newer Samsung TV:
- Samsung TU65M84HBUXNA (2026 M84H)
- Firmware 1245.5
- Tizen 10
- Latest Stremio version from Samsung Apps
They also found that the native Stremio server remains permanently Offline at:
http://127.0.0.1:11470/
and all streams fail.
They performed extensive troubleshooting, including restarting the TV, testing another network/mobile hotspot, clearing app data, reinstalling Stremio, and even performing a complete factory reset of the Samsung TV.
The really significant part is that they discovered they could connect the Samsung Stremio app to a remote HTTPS streaming server running on a Windows computer, and streaming worked perfectly using that remote server.
When switching back to the TV's native streaming server, it immediately went back to Offline.
That strongly points toward the native Stremio streaming server on Samsung/Tizen rather than the streaming sources, Stremio account, Internet connection, or network configuration.
There are now multiple reports
The GitHub issue has additional users reporting the same behavior.
Another user reported:
Samsung TU75M80HAUXXC (75", Portugal), firmware 1245
They reported the server permanently Offline at 127.0.0.1:11470 and PLAYER_ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED during playback. They had already restarted the TV, unplugged it, reinstalled Stremio and tested a mobile hotspot, without success.
Another user reported:
Samsung TQ65LS03HWUXXC, firmware 1245, Stremio Theater v1.14.1
Again, the same problem.
So there are now reports involving multiple recent Samsung models, particularly the M80H/M84H generation, running newer 124x firmware, with the common symptom being the Stremio native server stuck permanently Offline.
The original GitHub issue is still open and currently has no assignee, milestone, or fix.
I also contacted Stremio Support
I opened a support ticket with Stremio and initially received the usual troubleshooting recommendations:
1. Turn off the TV and unplug it.
2. Unplug the modem/router.
3. Leave everything disconnected for five minutes.
4. Reconnect and test again.
5. Change DNS.
6. Disable IPv6.
7. Confirm whether a VPN is being used.
I explained that these things had already been tested and provided the additional evidence from the GitHub issue.
I specifically pointed out that the problem began immediately after the Samsung firmware update and that multiple other Samsung users were reporting the same problem.
I also explained that testing through a mobile hotspot produced exactly the same result, which makes a problem with my home network particularly unlikely.
Current status
The good news is that Stremio Support has now acknowledged the GitHub report.
On October 21, 2026, Stremio Support replied:
>"Since this issue has been reported on GitHub the dev team will look into it, I have already share with them."
They also said:
>"No ETA for a fix at the moment."
So, as of now, the issue has apparently been passed to the Stremio development team, but there is no ETA for a fix.
My conclusion
At this point, I don't think this is a normal connectivity/DNS/VPN problem.
The timeline is very clear:
Samsung firmware 1204.6 → Stremio works
Samsung firmware updated to 1241.x/1245.x
Stremio native server becomes permanently Offline
127.0.0.1:11470 does not respond
All streams fail
And we now have multiple users on different Samsung TVs, networks and regions reporting essentially the same behavior after newer Samsung firmware updates.
The remote-server test is particularly compelling because it demonstrates that the Samsung Stremio app can stream successfully when using a remote server, while the native streaming server on the TV remains Offline.
So it appears there may be a Samsung Tizen firmware regression or compatibility issue affecting Stremio's native streaming server.
If you're using Stremio on a recent Samsung TV and suddenly started getting Server: Offline / Stream failed to load after a Samsung firmware update, please check your firmware version and report it on the GitHub issue:
stremio-bugs#2860
The more affected models/firmware versions that can be documented, the easier it should be for the Stremio developers to identify what changed.
At this point I'm mainly posting this to see how widespread the problem is and whether other Samsung users are seeing the exact same behavior.
