[Progress Update] Savage Wind Alpha 4 (BotW Switch)
Hey everyone! Here's a quick update on Savage Wind. Alpha 4 is officially out, and it's the biggest update so far. Like I mention from the start the goal is to make this as native as a PC game can be, so many things are being added.
Here's what's new:
- DLC Support: The Master Trials and The Champions' Ballad now work, from your own DLC files. Both are optional.
- Big Performance Boost: The game's geometry now stays in video memory instead of crossing PCIe on every draw. On an RTX 3060 that's around +45-55% fps: 1440p went from ~70 to ~105 fps, and 1080p from ~80 to ~120. Cards with 4-6 GB of VRAM get it too, and the CPU and GPU now work in parallel. Steam deck between 50-60fps with no FSR, native resolution.
- Draw Distance & Visuals:
- a Draw Distance setting (Original, Medium, High), a higly requested feature, expect some minor bugs at High.
- colour grading with presets and LUTs, including an official Savage Wind LUT that can be selected at the moment of compiling the game, it's optional.
- HDR10 and TAA.
- AMD FSR 3 frame generation on Windows, still WIP, so expect bugs.
- Fixed FOV and Ultrawide resolutions, shadows, corners, render correctly.
- Mouse & Keyboard:
- a real mouse pointer in menus, inventory, map, shops and dialogs, you can navigate and select weapons with the mousewheel!!
- a 1:1 mouse camera;
- tilt shrines playable with the keyboard, a mouse drag, or both sticks on controllers without gyro.
- Steam Deck Gyro: Bow aiming and motion puzzles work through SteamDeckGyroDSU on the Linux AppImage.
- Import Your Saves: Now on the Configuration.exe you can manage your saves, and... bring your Wii U / Cemu saves!
- Quality-of-Life & Bug Fixes:
- Memory no longer grows over long sessions and reloads.
- Fixed crashes on GTX 10-series and Intel GPUs, and AMD/Intel on Windows are back on the full Vulkan path.
- Fixed cutscene freezes (King Rhoam in exclusive fullscreen, Master Kohga's entrance).
- High frame rates no longer break arrows, cucco jumps, shield surfing, moving platforms or HUD text.
- The pause menu, map and loading screens look right on ultrawide.
- OBS Game Capture no longer flickers.
- New in-game console (F12): type report to copy your setup and exact location for a bug report.
Keep in mind this is still an Alpha build, so bugs are expected. Please submit any feedback on GitHub.
Notice on this: You are required to supply your own legally dumped game files (BotW v1.9.0, and the DLC if you want it) from your Switch.
- Download Alpha 4: Alpha 4.1
- Full Changelog: CHANGELOG
Huge thanks to all the contributors, testers and everyone who sent logs!
A quick note on what's next: Alpha 5 will be the "potato PC" update. The goal is that everyone can play. It will add options below console quality (shorter draw distance, lighter shadows, lower internal resolution and more), plus performance work that helps every PC.
Edit: Had to release a quickfix for some AMD users experiencing crashes, update 0.4.1 should fix it.

Github do projeto. Já possuí muitos recursos sendo implementados, inclusive FSR 3.1 com geração de quadros!
É necessário sua própria cópia do jogo na versão 1.8.3.

Savage Wind: a BotW Recomp
This project is a PC recompilation of Breath of the Wild (BotW) version 1.8.2 (Switch).
https://github.com/Revivedx/SavageWindRecomp/releases/tag/v0.2.0-alpha.2
Here are the features currently implemented:
- Independent Language Settings: Unlike the original Switch version, where voices and subtitles must match, you can now mix and match them freely (e.g., Japanese audio with English subtitles).
- Mouse and Keyboard Support: Controls have been fully adapted for PC, utilizing a layout similar to Dark Souls.
- Dedicated PC Settings: Customizable menus have been added for video, audio, and control schemes, also a configuration.exe in case you want to change settings without launching the game.
- Flexible Framerates: The game supports 30, 60, 90, and 120 FPS targets.
- Stutter Reduction: Integrated shader and pipeline caching prevents performance hitching in areas you have already explored.
Current Performance & Future Roadmap
Right now, the game fluctuates between 45-60FPS (tested on an RTX 3060 at 1440p resolution with FSR disabled) with some minor glitches. Further performance optimization is the absolute highest priority, and will be working on it for the rest of the week.
Future plans for the project include:
- PC-specific features like DLSS, FSR3, and VRR.
- Enhanced accessibility options.
- A rewarding progression system where amiibo items are hidden in chests throughout the world to encourage exploration, rather than relying on RNG or spawning them out of nowhere.
Why Version 1.8.2?
This specific version was chosen because it served as the definitive release for a long time prior to the latest official update, which only introduced minor bug fixes and Thai language support.
Why Savage Wind?
It just stuck with me, plus don't want anyone knocking at my door.
This wouldn't be possible without LASRecomp, as most of the project was built from it.
If you wanna help me, you can raise an issue via Github, I want to give everyone the absolute best BotW experience.
