I made a tiny Mac menu bar app to control Sonos with media keys
I wanted to control Sonos with my Mac’s media keys, so I made Sonos Keys.
Hold Command (or your chosen modifiers) to control Sonos playback, volume, and mute. Without the modifiers, the keys control your Mac as usual.
I’m keeping it deliberately lightweight: just media-key control. No (cloud) account, no browser UI, no attempt to replace the Sonos app.
It’s free to download and supports Intel and Apple Silicon:
MichMich/sonos-keys
Or install it with Homebrew:
brew install --cask michmich/tap/sonos-keys
So far, I’m the only person who tested it. If it does not work for you, or you find a bug, please open a GitHub issue.
And yes, plenty of AI helped build it. I’m a lazy typist, not a lazy reader. I did actually review the code and test it on real speakers. Please adjust your pitchfork settings accordingly. 😉
Hope someone else finds it useful!
