UnderRailFixes - Super Ultrawide, UI Scaling, Frame Unlock, 64 bit, and others
Built mostly using Claude, and comes with the lovely being mostly untested which is usual for claude built projects. It's mostly worked for me as of now, however.
I'm using Linux so I would love if WIndows users could test it for me.
- Resolution fix: every resolution your monitor supports (5120x1440, 3440x1440, 2560x1080…). Save screenshots also work on screens over 2048 pixels.
- UI Insets: move the HUD and menus into a centred area while the world fills the screen. Good for ultra wide.
- Interface scale: go beyond the game's largest Interface Size (automatic above 4K).
- Zoom fix: the world looks the same size on any screen, with more room to zoom out.
- Frame rate (off by default, still being tested): no 60 FPS cap, with an optional limit.
- Menu backgrounds: optionally show the whole artwork instead of a crop.
- Occluded characters (off by default): see characters behind walls with a keyhole, pattern, fill or outline, set separately for you, enemies and everyone else.
- Options → Fixes: change everything in game, no restart needed.
- Experimental 64-bit (separate download): the game runs as a 64-bit process on FNA, an open-source replacement for XNA, instead of Microsoft's 32-bit-only XNA. On Linux/Proton this also fixes the Advanced-shader flicker and the exit hang on GE-Proton, with no launch options needed. Tested on Linux only so far.
- Clean install: settings live in the mod's own UnderrailFix.ini, the game's config.dat is never touched, and saves stay compatible with the unmodified game.
For those that don't want to use this but have the issues in Linux Proton, I also found how to resolve those issues:
- If the floor tiles flicker black with the Advanced shader, add FNA3D_FORCE_DRIVER=D3D11 %command% to the launch options (FNA3D#274).
- On GE-Proton the game may keep running after you quit: Wine's PulseAudio driver hangs while shutting down (GE's controller-audio patches change it). Official Proton and Proton-CachyOS don't have this. On GE-Proton, WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winepulse.drv=d" %command% in the launch options should avoid it, by making Wine use its ALSA audio driver instead (PipeWire and PulseAudio both provide ALSA). This workaround hasn't been confirmed yet.
