Xodus Nexus: a launcher for Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass games, now with experimental Steam Deck support Hi everyone! I’m developing Xodus Nexus, an open-source launcher for installing and running Microsoft Store PC games on Linux, including games available through PC Game Pass. I’ve recently added experimental Steam Deck support, Gaming Mode integration and controller navigation, and I’m looking for feedback from Deck users. Games run locally on your device, not through cloud streaming. The project uses a patched Wine/Proton-based runtime built on Xodus. You need your own Microsoft account and a valid game purchase or subscription. What’s new for Steam Deck? You can now add Nexus and individual games to Steam as Non-Steam shortcuts, with available artwork, and launch them through Gaming Mode. The launcher also has experimental controller navigation for browsing the library, selecting games and using its main controls. Mouse, touch and keyboard input remain available. Some sign-in windows and system dialogs may still require touch or mouse input. I don’t currently own a Steam Deck or a similar handheld, so I can’t test directly on the hardware myself. These additions are still experimental, not a promise of a fully polished, controller-only experience. That’s why feedback from this community is particularly valuable. If anyone has an older Steam Deck or a similar handheld they’d be willing to sell for a reasonable price, I’d be happy to buy it for development and testing. Any condition is fine, including cosmetic damage, as long as the basic functions still work. Feel free to DM me! What does the launcher do? - Browse owned games, Game Pass titles and local installations, with search and filters. - Download games, manage the installation queue and check for updates. - Use Xbox sign-in and cloud saves in supported games. - Add games and Nexus itself to Steam. - Update the launcher, backend and runtime through Settings. It’s available as an AppImage. The backend and runtime can be installed through Settings. What games work? Some manually tested Linux results include: - Gears of War: E-Day, playable online. - Deep Rock Galactic, playable online. - Minecraft Dungeons II, playable online. - No Man’s Sky, playable online. - Forza Horizon 6, playable online. - Palworld, playable online. - Valor Mortis, fully playable. These are Linux compatibility results, not Steam Deck performance or compatibility guarantees. More games, user reports and known limitations are available in the compatibilit,y list. Not every game works. Some have missing functionality, online limitations or launch failures. What feedback would help? I’m especially interested in: - Whether controller navigation feels usable on the Deck. - Whether Steam shortcuts work correctly. - Any issues with scaling, focus, dialogs or the on-screen keyboard. Please include your SteamOS version, component versions and what worked or failed. If something crashes or won’t launch, please open a GitHub issue with the exact error and relevant logs. Just knowing that a game crashes usually isn’t enough to investigate, especially for games I don’t own. Downloads, setup instructions and screenshots This is an independent solo project, not affiliated with Microsoft, Xbox or Valve. It does not bypass game ownership or anti-cheat requirements. Caution: Xodus Nexus is an independent, unofficial project built on Xodus. It is not an official project or release from the upstream Xodus developers. Please report all issues encountered with Xodus Nexus only in the Xodus Nexus repository, not in the upstream Xodus issue tracker or support channels. Nexus includes its own changes, so a problem in Nexus does not necessarily indicate a problem in upstream Xodus. For transparency, I use AI tools during reverse engineering. Thanks to everyone willing to try it and help improve the Steam Deck experience!

Xodus Nexus: an open-source launcher for Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass Hi everyone! I’m building Xodus Nexus, an open-source desktop launcher that lets you install and run Microsoft Store PC games on Linux, including games available through PC Game Pass. This is a solo project I work on in my spare time, built on top of Xodus. My goal is to make the process approachable: sign in with your Microsoft account, find a game in your library, download it and hit Play. The launcher now includes: - A library combining games you own, games available through your subscription and local installations, with search and filters. - Update notifications for the launcher, plus backend and runtime updates through Settings. It’s available as an AppImage. The backend and runtime can be downloaded from Settings, so there’s no need to compile them yourself. Current manually tested results: - Gears of War: E-Day, playable online. - Deep Rock Galactic, playable online. - Minecraft Dungeons II, playable online. - No Man’s Sky, playable online. - Forza Horizon 6, playable online. - Palworld, playable online. - Valor Mortis, fully playable. Xbox sign-in and cloud saves also work in supported games. This is still experimental, not a promise that your whole Game Pass library will work. Some games run, others have missing functionality or won’t launch. I keep a compatibility list with actual test results. You need your own Microsoft account and a valid purchase or subscription. This isn’t a source of free games, and the project isn’t affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox. Code, downloads, screenshots and compatibility: domsvoboda/xodus-nexus If you try it, I’d appreciate feedback on both the launcher and game compatibility. Tell me your distro, the game you tried and how far you got, including whether sign-in, gameplay, saves and multiplayer worked. Reports help me decide what to tackle next. For transparency, I use AI tools during reverse engineering.
