vorssaint-utils

What does it do?

It is a macOS menu bar toolkit, meaning a set of utilities accessed from the menu bar. [1] It groups tools such as per-app volume control, a system monitor, window snapping, clipboard history, text snippets, a file shelf, and an uninstaller behind one menu bar icon. [2] A supported use is setting volume separately for each app and boosting quiet audio above 100%. [3]

    How much of your Mac utility stack can Vorssaint replace for free? Picture this: You just bought a brand-new Mac. You unbox it, go through the setup, admire how clean everything looks...for 5 min and then start making it yours. So, one app for window snapping. Another for clipboard history. Another for controlling individual app volumes. Then you add system monitoring, screenshots, a file shelf, an app uninstaller, network monitoring, battery stats, a keep-awake utility... And before you know it your shiny new Mac has a dozen apps running in the background, each with its own updates, permissions, menu bar icon, and sometimes a subscription. The funny part? You probably only use one or two features from each app. That's why I like Vorssaint. It's free, open-source and combines dozens of those little utilities into one place: window snapping, clipboard history, per-app volume control, screenshots, system monitoring, text expansion, file management, a customizable Dynamic Island and more. Plus you install only what you want. Yep, you can install and uninstall individual modules and the features you remove stop loading rather than just being hidden behind a toggle. Main features - Window management: Snap windows into layouts, switch between windows with previews, and preview open windows by hovering over Dock icons. - System monitoring: See CPU/GPU usage, memory pressure, temperatures, battery information and network activity without opening Activity Monitor. - Clipboard and file tools: Search previous clipboard entries, expand text snippets, remove tracking parameters from copied URLs, and temporarily park files on a shelf while moving them between apps. - Per-app volume control: Adjust the volume of individual applications instead of changing your Mac's overall output. Handy when music, notifications and calls are all fighting for attention. It also supports switching audio devices. - Optional Dynamic Island: Put music controls, timers, downloads, notifications and other information around the notch or at the top of the screen. It also has integrations for tracking activity from tools like Claude Code and Codex. - And a ton of other utilities: Like keeping the Mac awake, uninstalling applications, managing Homebrew packages and so on... How does it compare? Vorssaint vs Droppy: Droppy is more about the notch, file handling and live activities, with an optional extension system and iPhone companion. Vorssaint is free and has a broader focus on system-level utilities, including monitoring and audio controls. Vorssaint vs Supercharge: Supercharge goes deeper into Finder, Dock and Mission Control behavior. Vorssaint covers a wider range of standalone utilities, including per-app audio, system monitoring, clipboard history and app management, without the $20 price tag. Vorssaint vs Almighty: Almighty offers over 100 Mac tweaks, with custom scripts and workflows for users who want more control over their system. Vorssaint focuses on replacing everyday utility apps with ready-to-use tools rather than building your own workflows. Vorssaint vs OmniMac: These two have a lot in common, from per-app volume and window management to clipboard history, system monitoring and a Dynamic Island. OmniMac includes an equalizer and supports Intel Macs, while Vorssaint offers a broader toolkit with features like Homebrew management, screen recording and app updates. Pricing - Free: No subscription, paid tier, or ads (open-source GPL license). Links - Website: vorssaint.com - GitHub: vorssaint/vorssaint-utils

// windows.swift — swift windows.swift で実行 import AppKit for s in NSScreen.screens { print("screen:", s.frame, "top inset:", s.safeAreaInsets.top) } let list = CGWindowListCopyWindowInfo([.optionAll], kCGNullWindowID) as! [[String: Any]] for w in list { let layer = w[kCGWindowLayer as String] as? Int ?? 0 guard layer > 0, let b = w[kCGWindowBounds as String] as? "?")", "y=(b["Y"] ?? 0) size=(Int(b["Width"] ?? 0))x(Int(b["Height"] ?? 0))", "onscreen=(w[kCGWindowIsOnscreen as String] ?? false)") } } 結果は次のとおりです。 Bug : Extra Brightness hides window previews in Mission Control desktop thumbnails on macOS 27 — vorssaint/vorssaint-utils #3292 fix(display): keep windows in Mission Control's desktop thumbnails with Extra Brightness on — vorssaint/vorssaint-utils #3293 black window drawn on second display with 0 alpha blacks out Mission Control preview — VLC #9106(古い macOS での「透明なウィンドウがプレビューを隠す」例) Mission Control graphic issue — Apple Community(セーフモードとログイン項目で切り分ける方法)

    [OS] MacTools: a free Mac toolkit with plugins and custom panels I’m a contributor to MacTools, a free, open-source toolkit for macOS. Problem: You might use separate apps to arrange windows, find text you copied earlier, or keep your Mac awake. MacTools brings these tools together. Choose from 64 official plugins in the Marketplace. Install what you need and build your own panels with controls and live widgets. Recorded with official MacTools 2.0.1, the video shows how to: - Build a panel with CPU and memory widgets, Keep Awake, and Dark Mode. - Arrange Safari and TextEdit side by side with Action Grid. - Find text you copied earlier with Clipboard History and paste it into TextEdit. Plugins include: Clipboard History, Action Grid, system monitoring, Keep Awake, Dark Mode, Sidecar, Trackpad Gestures, display controls, audio controls, screenshots, and more. Comparison: Vorssaint is another free, open-source Mac toolkit with similar tools and custom panels. MacTools focuses on plugins you can install separately and Action Grid for quick actions. Pricing: $0 for the app and official plugins. No subscription, account, or ads. Requires macOS 14 or later. Some plugins need a newer macOS version or compatible hardware. Vorssaint: One menu bar icon doing the job of a dozen paid Mac apps (25k stars) What it does All text below is quoted directly from the project README. >One menu bar icon doing the job of a dozen paid Mac apps. Free, open source, and local-first. Per app volume, a real system monitor, a better app switcher, window snapping, Dock previews, clipboard history, text snippets, a file shelf, an uninstaller. The utilities Mac users usually buy one by one, together behind a single menu bar icon, with no account, no telemetry and no subscription. Install only what you use: Choose individual features or start with a preset. Uninstalled features stop loading and disappear from the interface; reinstalling restores their settings. Setup asks only for the permissions your choices need. Everything it does: - Volume mixer. Set volume per app, boost quiet audio past 100%, and pin or reorder favorites. No audio driver required. - Per app output. Play music through speakers while a call uses your headset. - System monitor. CPU, GPU, memory, temperatures, battery health and power use, with history graphs and a view of energy-hungry apps. - Fan Control (beta). Set manual fan speeds or temperature curves and monitor live RPM. - Network. See live traffic, session totals and your local IP address, or run a speed test. - App switcher. Switch between apps and windows with live previews, search and display filters. A simpler mode works without screen capture. - Window layout. Snap windows into layouts, move them between displays and restore earlier positions using shortcuts, screen edges or modifier-drag gestures. - Dock Preview. Hover over Dock icons to preview windows across desktops. Switch, close, move or snap them from the preview. - Quit and close protection. Prevent accidental ⌘Q or ⌘W with a hold, double press or extra modifier, per app. - Text snippets. Expand short triggers into text with clipboard, date and time variables, or insert snippets from a searchable menu. - Smooth scrolling. Give your mouse wheel a fluid glide with adjustable speed and response. - Side buttons. Use mouse Back and Forward buttons in Finder, browsers and compatible apps.
