How much of your Mac utility stack can Vorssaint replace for free?
Picture this: You just bought a brand-new Mac.
You unbox it, go through the setup, admire how clean everything looks...for 5 min and then start making it yours.
So, one app for window snapping. Another for clipboard history. Another for controlling individual app volumes. Then you add system monitoring, screenshots, a file shelf, an app uninstaller, network monitoring, battery stats, a keep-awake utility...
And before you know it your shiny new Mac has a dozen apps running in the background, each with its own updates, permissions, menu bar icon, and sometimes a subscription.
The funny part? You probably only use one or two features from each app.
That's why I like Vorssaint. It's free, open-source and combines dozens of those little utilities into one place: window snapping, clipboard history, per-app volume control, screenshots, system monitoring, text expansion, file management, a customizable Dynamic Island and more.
Plus you install only what you want. Yep, you can install and uninstall individual modules and the features you remove stop loading rather than just being hidden behind a toggle.
Main features
- Window management: Snap windows into layouts, switch between windows with previews, and preview open windows by hovering over Dock icons.
- System monitoring: See CPU/GPU usage, memory pressure, temperatures, battery information and network activity without opening Activity Monitor.
- Clipboard and file tools: Search previous clipboard entries, expand text snippets, remove tracking parameters from copied URLs, and temporarily park files on a shelf while moving them between apps.
- Per-app volume control: Adjust the volume of individual applications instead of changing your Mac's overall output. Handy when music, notifications and calls are all fighting for attention. It also supports switching audio devices.
- Optional Dynamic Island: Put music controls, timers, downloads, notifications and other information around the notch or at the top of the screen. It also has integrations for tracking activity from tools like Claude Code and Codex.
- And a ton of other utilities: Like keeping the Mac awake, uninstalling applications, managing Homebrew packages and so on...
How does it compare?
Vorssaint vs Droppy: Droppy is more about the notch, file handling and live activities, with an optional extension system and iPhone companion. Vorssaint is free and has a broader focus on system-level utilities, including monitoring and audio controls.
Vorssaint vs Supercharge: Supercharge goes deeper into Finder, Dock and Mission Control behavior. Vorssaint covers a wider range of standalone utilities, including per-app audio, system monitoring, clipboard history and app management, without the $20 price tag.
Vorssaint vs Almighty: Almighty offers over 100 Mac tweaks, with custom scripts and workflows for users who want more control over their system. Vorssaint focuses on replacing everyday utility apps with ready-to-use tools rather than building your own workflows.
Vorssaint vs OmniMac: These two have a lot in common, from per-app volume and window management to clipboard history, system monitoring and a Dynamic Island. OmniMac includes an equalizer and supports Intel Macs, while Vorssaint offers a broader toolkit with features like Homebrew management, screen recording and app updates.
