Closed!!! Tinygo need serialization tools · Issue #447 · tinygo-org/tinygo
This is the issue, open since 2019, I've checked on most frequently in the entire Go ecosystem. TinyGo, the beloved version of Go for embedded systems, tinkerers, WASM, WASI, and CLIs, has finally completed enough reflection to be able to accomplish a round trip with encoding/json and encoding/gob!
Recent changes in 0.41 (April), 0.42 (September), 0.43 (October), and 0.44 (18 hours ago) helped a lot with this. Thank you to the contributors that got us here! In October of 2019, I wrote that 0.9 enabled base32, base64, and csv, and that json, xml, and gob would probably need more reflection support first. Looks like it was a lot, and from the difficultly I read about in not wanting to bloat the runtime, I wasn't sure it would ever get here.
It looks like Jake Bailey did a lot of the reflect work. He's from Microsoft's Typescript team, so I can infer but don't know that this was the reason. Dave Cheny looks like he's been doing a lot of work. Without reading a lot more than I want to before bed, I just want to make sure I thank you too and anyone else that made huge contributions recently.
I look forward to my own tests this weekend! I have a project I'm excited to use this for.
