Show HN: Pmstream, Milkdrop visualizations in the terminal (also in kew player) You can now run winamp style visualizations in the terminal, in full-color using sixels or kitty protocol. pmstream was made to work with kew (v4.4.2), but it also works as a standalone app or as a plugin for other apps. It streams frames of projectM visualizations in either sixels or ascii and delimits with a double-linebreak. It's fairly easy to integrate. We want to make tech that lifts all boats for local music players, because we are on a mission to strengthen contemporary music and musicians. This is the second thing we've come up with. The first thing was an artist homepage database so people can click a link and go to artist's homepages and buy their stuff. pmstream is installed with a preset package with 10 000 visualizations. kew homepage: kewplayer.com repo: ravachol/kew ./pmstream --mode sixels ./pmstream --stream 80x40 --mode ascii --fps 24
[OC] kew music player with winamp style visualizations in the terminal Hi unixporn, We haven't posted updates about kew for a long time, but this time it's special. Because with kew 4.4.2 you can have projectM/Milkdrop visualizations via a plugin right in the terminal. We have also fixed a lot of bugs in kew that emerged after we rewrote the UI completely, and now have no open bugs. I also want to point out that you can make your own layouts in kew now. Instructions here: You can try an alternate kew layout by renaming ~/.config/kew/layouts/alt.layout to current.layout We haven't seen a lot of people trying this and would love to hear feedback on layout editing too see where it might need improvements. pmstream - winamp style visualizations (ProjectM) in the terminal pmstream streams projectm frames delimited by a double line-break. It was made to work with the music player kew, but it can be used stand-alone from the command-line or as a plugin for other apps. ravachol/pmstream
