[FIX] Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) – Emily Basement Softlock / Wall Restored Bug (PC/Steam) I managed to fix a game-breaking softlock in Resident Evil Requiem without losing my inventory, loot, upgrades, or story progress. I'm sharing the solution in case anyone else encounters the same bug. the fix took me less than 5 minutes! The problem I reached the part of the game where Emily gets kidnapped and the objective changes to "Get Emily back." Normally, a previously destroyed wall should provide access to the basement. However, in my playthrough, the wall had somehow restored itself. The passage was completely blocked, making it impossible to reach the basement and continue the story. I had an older save from before Emily was kidnapped, but my latest save contained a lot of valuable loot, resources, and upgrades that I didn't want to lose. Reloading the latest save didn't solve the problem. The solution: REFramework + NoClip Instead of modifying the save files or restarting from an older save, I used a NoClip mod to temporarily bypass the bugged wall. This worked for me on the Steam PC version of Resident Evil Requiem. Step 1 – Back up your save files Before doing anything, disable Steam Cloud for Resident Evil Requiem. In Steam: 1. Right-click Resident Evil Requiem. 2. Select Properties → General. 3. Disable Steam Cloud synchronization. Find your save files under: Steam\userdata\<YourSteamAccountID>\3764200\ Copy the entire 3764200 folder somewhere safe. Step 2 – Download REFramework Download REFramework from the official GitHub releases page: github.com/praydog/REFramework-nightly/releases Download REFramework.zip from the latest available release. Extract the archive and find: dinput8.dll Open your RE9 installation directory through Steam: Library → Resident Evil Requiem → Manage → Browse local files. Copy dinput8.dll into the same folder as re9.exe. Step 3 – Download the NoClip mod Download (manual) the RE9 NoClip mod by VIPO777: nexusmods.com Extract the archive. Copy the included reframework folder into your RE9 installation directory. Your folder structure should look like this: RESIDENT EVIL requiem BIOHAZARD requiem ├── re9.exe ├── dinput8.dll └── reframework └── autorun └── re9_noclip.lua Step 4 – Load your bugged save Start Resident Evil Requiem through Steam. REFramework should load automatically. If its menu is hidden, press Insert to open it. Under Script Generated UI, check that RE9 NoClip appears. Load your latest save where the objective is "Get Emily back" and the basement wall is blocked. Step 5 – Bypass the wall Walk up to the restored wall. Press F2 to enable NoClip. Use the following controls: - W / S – Move forward/backward - A / D – Move left/right - E – Move upward - Q – Move downward - Ctrl – Move slowly - F2 – Toggle NoClip on/off Carefully move through the wall until you reach a safe position on the other side. Press F2 again to disable NoClip before continuing normally. Step 6 – Continue the story Once I reached the other side of the wall, I was able to interact with the required object/trigger. The next story cutscene played successfully! This allowed me to bypass the softlock while keeping my original inventory, resources, upgrades, and progress. I didn't need to replace or edit my save file. Step 7 – Save and remove the mod After progressing past the bug, continue until you can create a new save. Save in a separate slot rather than overwriting your original save. Exit the game and back up your updated save files. To uninstall REFramework and NoClip, remove the following from the game's installation directory: - dinput8.dll - The reframework folder (if you don't use any other mods) Restart the game and verify that your new save loads correctly without mods. After confirming everything works, Steam Cloud can be enabled again. If Steam asks you to resolve a cloud conflict, make sure to keep the newer local save containing your recovered progress. Important notes - This is a workaround, not an actual repair of the wall's saved state. - The cutscene worked in my playthrough, but I can't guarantee that every affected save will behave identically. - Always back up your saves before using mods. - Don't overwrite your latest working save until you've confirmed the workaround succeeds. - NoClip can interfere with movement, collisions, and falling, so disable it as soon as you're safely past the wall. Hopefully this helps anyone who gets stuck trying to rescue Emily and doesn't want to lose hours of progress just because the game expects you to save Emily straight away! (And YES i am a monster for not doing so...)
