Weekend project: Mario 64 in Mixed Reality!
I built a native MR version of Mario 64 that runs in real 3D (not a flat stereoscopic screen) at 90 FPS. The whole level sits on your desk and you play it like a diorama.
I built this with Claude Code (Opus 5.5), using the Unity CLI and PICO CLI so Claude could build, deploy and iterate on the headset directly from the terminal.
Claude code:
- wrote the bridge between the SM64 decomp and Unity's renderer
- handled converting the N64 geometry and input mapping to MR controllers
- debugged frame pacing to hit a stable 90 FPS
It's based on n64decomp/sm64, which made the native 3D rendering possible.
Disclaimer: I own an original physical copy of Mario 64. This project is not affiliated with Nintendo or PICO.
Happy to answer questions about the Claude Code + Unity CLI + PICO CLI workflow.

A long-living dream for me has just happen to came finally true, I'm so happy right now
Around 20 years ago, I grew up with the N64, had a lot of games for it, but for me, with other great games, like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, all 3 Mario Party Games and more, Paper Mario was with one of my favorites I've loved to replay over and over again - it never tired me out to play it.
Since I also had a DS and a few years later a 3DS, I've sometimes wondered if you could somehow ever play Paper Mario on the 3DS and other games from the N64, like how you already could play N64 games or games from other consoles on a PC with emulators, like I sometimes tried with the Gamecube emulator "Dolphin" back then, to check out TTYD (because the N64 was my only legit console we had, I couldn't have any other), but soon you were also able to play it from Android phones and even other platforms, which is really awesome to see, how far things have to come and developed so fast in those past years.
And now recently, a wish came true for me, which I found out just right now, because I can finally play Paper Mario directly and with no emulation anymore on my New 3DS XL.
Thanks to all the decompilation projects, that I have watched over the last years and how much progress they have already made, for like SM64, Ocarina of Time, and surprisingly Paper Mario too, where they decompiled these games fully to 100%, which means that emulators for these (few) games can or will in the near future not be needed anymore, so for many (or just a few) platforms, because they can be then ported to other platforms, like how we already have Super Mario 64 ported, to play it directly on PC, or also just recently Mario Kart Wii on the 3DS (that's not a joke)!
And now this awesome project I found on GitHub, which is called StarHaven, with the active development of porting Paper Mario natively to the 3DS family - you can also check out many other awesome decompilation projects and ports of games, which are known here.
I just thought I was just dreaming when I saw that project, because for me it's really like a dream I have and wished for a very long time already, which just came true and I'm really happy right now that it finally exist. So I quickly got my 3DS and followed the instructions on their GitHub project page (FYI, you need CFW on your 3DS!), which was very easy to do actually and now, I can finally play it on my 3DS, what a joy!
Am I the only one or does anyone else here, hoped for such a thing to happen in the future, playing Paper Mario on a 3DS or maybe on a PC, with also many new extra features, where you don't even have to use emulation anymore?
Sorry if my wording is sometimes a bit off or maybe my English in general, I'm still kinda "shocked" from all this and that it's actually real.
BTW, here are some pictures I've made, to show you Paper Mario running from my N3DS XL, which looks very good for me on the 3DS and there are already many additional features included, that we can have now finally built-in, since we don't have here to rely on emulation anymore, which also make the second screen much more useful.
It's just beautiful, I still can't stop to smile, when I'm going to play it now, also in 3D :)

REA copie VRAIMENT n’importe quelle appli ?

[en-US] Does REA REALLY copy any app? The truth
REA (Reverse Engineer Anything), the viral GitHub repository for Claude Code: Have all apps become open source?
What AI can REALLY retrieve from an app depending on its type, the real proof, and what the law says.
📄 My prompt for doing it without REA + Brandon Thomas's 7 apps: [iatechnologie.com]
In this video:
• Website, Electron app, native app, iPhone: what your computer actually receives (and what stays on their servers)
• How REA works: an MCP server that drives about twenty software programs (Ghidra, IDA, Hopper, Chrome, Android tools) + a skill (the method)
• The real proof: DX-Ball (1996), 3,205 cases tested, the rewritten function returns the same 63 bytes
• With or without REA: tests by Nick Saraev, Nate Herk, and Better Stack
• My prompt without REA, based on the official method (observed/inferred/unknown, clean room)
• The Adobe suite clone (ArtCraft): 7 apps in one week, without REA
• The law in Europe: Observe, study, test = allowed; decompile = only for interoperability or to fix a bug
• Samba, Super Mario 64: reverse engineering is nothing new
Chapters:
00:00 REA: are all apps open source?
00:35 Website: what your browser receives
01:08 Electron, native, iPhone apps: what an AI can read

09:13 So, open source or not?
Clarifications:
• The lawsuit against Adobe (FTC, via the US Department of Justice) dates from June 2024; the $150 million settlement (March 2026) = $75 million paid + $75 million in free services.
• Clean room with AI: you run both sessions. It's a good practice, not a legal shield.
• "For internal use, go ahead" is my opinion: the legal limits (decompilation, code replication) are the same for internal use.
• DX-Ball: As of October 7th, 55 functions have been verified on the game, which is not yet playable (REA showcase).
• I am not a lawyer: the texts are below.

You could decompile things before - see the Mario 64 recompilation project for example, which released in 2019 and took a lot of (human) work to reach 1:1 exact match w/ the original game. Using LLMs to do it IS new as of the last year or so. This is how we're seeing stuff like "Minecraft in GTA V"
