MineCity 2000 - Convert SimCity 2000 cities to Minecraft worlds online Hello everyone, first of all it makes me happy to see that there is at least a somewhat active SimCity 2000 community on Reddit after all these years :) I assume that at least some of you also play or (at least know about) Minecraft, in which you can build your own 3D worlds out of blocks. Anyway all the way back in 2014 I had the brilliant idea of converting my SimCity 2000 cities into Minecraft worlds and started working on a converter. I worked on and off on it for all this time (mostly off). In 2019 I mentioned it in a job interview and the interviewer asked if they could see it on GitHub, so after that I cleaned up the code a bit and uploaded it there. Then at the end of 2022 it went kind of viral and got 700 GitHub stars, which I think is quite a lot and made me remember this project. However if somebody wanted to convert their own city, they needed to download the Windows app to their computer, run it locally and even confirm that it was not a virus, which was a huge pain in the a** for everybody thinking about converting a city. Fortunately in 2026 the AI revolution came along and I was able to ask Claude to change the app into an online tool that runs completely in the browser, and to make a semi professional-looking landing page for it on Vercel. So there it is in all its glory: minecity.vercel.app Please try it and let me know what you think. Also feel welcome to report any bugs or feature requests on GitHub: jgosar/mine-city-2000 Also if you think any other communities would be interested in this, do repost or share it.
