What does it do?

HiRoute is a local model router, meaning software that runs on the user's computer and chooses which AI model handles work, giving routine agent work to economical models and keeping the strongest model for hard parts. [1a][1b] With a difficulty-routing plan, it judges each new message so routine work such as reading code or gathering facts can go to an economical model, while design decisions and difficult fixes stay with the subscription or primary model. [2] It also shows, for each session, which model actually ran, its usage, and its cost. [3]

    A local router for Codex and Claude Code. I'd read the limits first. Reading code can go to a cheaper model, hard fixes stay on your main one, and each session shows its cost. For Claude, the README says task matching and scoring may be inaccurate. higress-group/HiRoute t.co
