Home Assistant Developer - a Codex plugin for developing custom smart-home components for Home Assistant I’ve published Home Assistant Developer — a collection of agent skills for developing and maintaining custom integrations and Lovelace cards. Home Assistant Developer plugin in Codex The integration skill tells the coding agent to consult current Home Assistant documentation before making changes. It covers config flows, DataUpdateCoordinator, entity lifecycle, diagnostics, translations, and integration quality rules. The card skill covers custom cards and their editors. I’ve used these skills while developing and maintaining: - Yasno Outages, electricity outage schedules and calendars (due to russian strikes on Ukrainian electricity grid) - Aerial Danger, matching air-threat messages to selected Ukrainian regions and localities, monitoring and notifying of incomming drones, ballistics, cruise missiles. - Check Weather, binary sensors based on upcoming weather conditions. - Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, weather, radiation, and hydrology data. - Kyiv Vodokanal, water meter readings, bills, payments, and tariffs for Kyiv water distribution system. - vacuum-card, a my (widely known) custom card for vacuum robots. The skills are available as a plugin for Codex, or as standalone skills. Installation instructions are in the repository. I’d appreciate feedback from other integration authors, especially on missing checks or guidance that doesn’t match current HA conventions. Disclosure: Obviously I used AI coding assistants for this project as this is specifically desinged to be used with them.
