Cloudflare bought Deno's team because of celld, yet there hasn't been commits for few weeks. Supposedly they wanted it because having 'standards based approach' is good for Cloudflare too, then why aren't they continuing it?
@cloudflare.social @deno.land
denoland/celld
celld: sel1f-hosted Durable Objects runtime:
• V8 workers
• one SQLite DB per object
• S3-backed state
• conditional-write ownership
• epoch fencing
No separate consensus cluster. Early, but a clever design.

this should blocked as anti-competitive, since it seems they are buying Deno to acquire the Deno’s open source version of Cloudflare Durable Objects

Hopefully not to stop celld, the cloudflare Durable Object compatible impl. denoland/celld news.ycombinator.com
Phrased as it being merged into the existing, but I can't help but fret a bit. Is cloudflare willing to let their own core compute product be something available to the world? Absolutely sick wins if so. But I worry celld pretty reasonably seen as a threat.
@Niapyaya @akazwz_ 我猜这次收购是 cf 感受到威胁了,因为 deno 在做 denoland/celld ,更像是把竞争对手收编进来。当然 deno deploy 估计本身就不赚钱,之前团队成员很多都退出了。

100ms for a write - not usable for anything beyond toys.
I mean we have denoland/celld - with a known good open source history. Durable writes there are as low as 1ms.
celld is very interesting and I've been following Dahl's posts on X about it. But it is not related directly to deno. The celld repo [1] for example suggests that it is 78.5% Rust.
It is much more of a side-quest and it doesn't answer the question: where is deno going?
1. denoland/celld
And @livestoredev now works in celld as well, docs updated 👀
