This looks really good. It does look like you put a ton of effort into it, I'll give it a try.
I feel like the moved code cases would look great in andunieee/twain, I was looking into how I could slurp your code and make it work there (although for some reason I have the impression that I had already seen this repository in the past, I can't remember where).
twain: a gtk4 diff viewer like meld, but modern and compatible with agentic workflows
I've been using this for weeks now and it is surprisingly helpful: andunieee/twain
Things that are like Meld:
- intuitive and nice view of what changed to what, what was removed from where and added where;
- scrolling minimaps of changes;
- git support;
- fast.
Things we have that Meld doesn't:
- all files from a Git diff shown in the same view, sequentially;
- a file tree on the side, super fast;
- show either the full files or only the parts that changed, with granular revealing of the unchanged parts;
- tree-sitter-based syntax highlighting;
- the ability to comment on sets of changes and lines, and AIs can read these comments and add more from a CLI, like Hunk;
- the ability to search through the entire set of modified files;
- written in Rust.
Things Meld has that we don't:
- merge;
- three-way comparisons;
- support for other version control systems;
- ability to edit the files directly.

twain, a gtk4 Meld-like diff viewer
In this day and age in which people review code more than they write, diff viewers are a necessity, and there are many out there specially tailored for AI workflows.
But they are all bad, meldmerge.org is 100x better, but it missed some features I wanted, so I made a new one in Rust:
andunieee/twain has stuff like
- view all files at the same time
- comment on lines and read the comments also from a CLI
- tree-sitter syntax highlighting

Show HN: Twain, a diff viewer like Meld, but for the age of AI
I love Meld, I've been using it for a while now, it's amazing how many diff viewers exist these days and how they are all awful compared to Meld.
But Meld was missing some features that I thought were worth having:
- all files from a Git diff shown in the same view, sequentially + a file tree on the side.
- show either the full files or only the parts that changed.
- tree-sitter-based syntax highlighting.
- the ability to comment on sets of changes and lines, and AIs can read these comments.
- the ability to search through the entire set of modified files.
Twain is in Rust and based on GTK4.
