Behringer Is Changing Music Hardware... Now Akai Wants In?! behringer could be about to change the music hardware industry. with the KICK targeting around $150, the IGNITE open-source sequencer, and now a new open DJ hardware project targeting $400 to $500, things are getting really interesting. and now akai has entered the conversation with its new Sample Key teaser, talking about open firmware and what the community might be able to do with it. in this video, we're looking at what behringer has announced, why open-source music hardware could be a big deal, and whether akai is positioning itself to be part of this new wave. we'll also talk about the questions that still need answering, including pricing, software freedom, and whether these products can deliver on their promises. what do you think? would you buy into open-source music hardware, or do you prefer the established products from companies like akai? and what price would make the Sample Key worth considering? let me know in the comments. Some Screenshots from Behringer's MPC One Clone, Kick It's a multiplatform JUCE app, so with a bit (a lot, actually: thanks AI) of help stubbing out missing classes and constants, it can run natively on macOS. This is what it looks like. Haven't had a chance to play around with it, but not really expecting much since it's the audio engine that was missing. The repo: MusicTribeOpenSource/0700-AAM
