I made a live LaTeX preview that updates as you type (~1 ms per keystroke, output identical to LuaLaTeX) I've always envied Typst's instant preview, but my papers have to stay in LaTeX. So I built rtex, which keeps a LuaLaTeX process warm with your preamble loaded and re-typesets only the paragraph you're editing. It takes about a millisecond, and document length doesn't matter: a 300-page book is as fast as a 10-page one. It's a VS Code extension for now: HenryXiaoYang/realtime-tex-vsc-plugin Limits: LuaLaTeX only, and things like TikZ and preamble edits wait for the background compile. Based on Clemens Lode's TUGboat paper "Real-Time LuaTeX". Code: HenryXiaoYang/realtime-tex Note: Vibe-coded software
