What does it do?
FractalAndroid is an Android app that lets a phone act as a compute node—a device doing part of a larger system’s computation—for the Fractal distributed network, running local machine-learning training on the phone. [1] It checks hardware conditions such as battery level, temperature, and memory pressure and pauses or throttles work to avoid harming the device. [2a][2b] For example, when the phone is charging and on unmetered Wi-Fi, it can train a model locally and upload saved model parameters (checkpoints), which the README says credits bandwidth to the device.
