I made a free, open-source Holy Grail tracker and mule organizer for offline D2R (PC & Steam Deck) Hey everyone, I’m the dev behind this. The first part is PC, and the second part is SD. - Website: d2r.diamonddoge.org - Source code: DozenTwelve/diablo2-tracker Why I made it About a year ago, before Reign of the Warlock came out, I was doing a Holy Grail run and my saves were a mess. So I threw together a little tool where you typed in your items by hand... and it was so tedious that even I stopped using it. Then the new version dropped with a bunch of QoL updates, including The Chronicle for Grail hunting. I really liked it and got back into D2R, but my actual problem never went away. I play offline, and between my farming characters and my mules I’ve got 50+ characters. At that point I honestly had no idea what I owned. I’d pick up something I already had five or six of (The Chronicle helps with some of that). For items where I’m chasing perfect rolls, I might have four copies sitting on four different mules, and comparing them meant logging into each one. Worst of all, every time my shared stash filled up, I had to move everything into the right mule by hand. That part drove me crazy, so I built this. What it does diablo2-tracker is a D2R item manager. It’s free and fully open source (GPL-3.0). No login, no backend server, no memory reading, no injection. It just reads your save files, right in your browser, and nothing gets uploaded. Out of the box it shows how close you are to finishing your Grail. If you want to go further and actually organize your characters, it can do that too: 1. Museum mules. Based on the game’s own item tables, every unique and set item gets a fixed slot in a “museum” mule. Each slot holds your best-rolled copy, and anything you don’t have yet stays empty. Open a museum mule and every empty slot is something you’re still missing. 2. Everything else gets a home. Duplicate uniques and sets, runewords, charms, jewels, rings, magic items and bases each get their own numbered mules. Duplicates are marked as better or worse than your museum copy. 3. TRASH mules. Magic charms and jewels where every stat rolled low end up here, along with duplicate uniques and sets beyond what any build could use. They just sit there until you look through them. The tool never deletes anything. 4. Inbox pages. Mark one or more shared stash pages as your inbox and dump your loot there after each run. The New finds page tells you whether each item is new to your collection, an upgrade, a duplicate some build could still use, or just extra. This page only reads your saves, so you can keep the game open. D2R only writes the shared stash when you save & exit, so new loot shows up after you exit. When you organize, only the inbox pages and mules get rearranged. Your other stash pages are left alone. After organizing, it double-checks that every item ends up in exactly one place. Nothing lost, nothing duplicated. Other everyday stuff: - Collection: uniques, sets, runewords and runes, with how many you have out of the total and a list of what you’re missing. - Search: look up any item in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese or Korean, and see exactly which character and slot each copy is in. - Characters: every character’s gear, inventory, stash, cube and belt, laid out like the in-game grids, with tooltips. - Build gear: pick one of 22 popular builds from Maxroll, click a gear slot, and see which recommended items you own and where they are. I copied the lists from Maxroll by hand, so a few might be out of date. Save safety - The web version never touches your saves. Everything is parsed in your browser and nothing is uploaded. When you organize, you get a zip of the organized save folder and swap the files in yourself: quit the game, back up your save folder, then copy in the files from the zip. - The Steam Deck plugin organizes right on the Deck. It won’t run while the game is open. Before writing anything, it backs up your whole save folder, and afterwards it reads every file back to check it. It keeps your 10 newest backups plus the very first one, and you can restore or delete any of them with one button. - Still, please make your own full backup of your save folder before using it the first time. Steam Deck plugin It’s a Decky Loader plugin you open from the quick access menu in Game Mode, and it reads the Deck’s own saves. Item icons are pulled from your own installed game files, so the plugin doesn’t ship any Blizzard art. It’s not in the Decky store yet, so here’s how to install it: Decky → Settings → General → turn on Developer mode, then Developer → Install Plugin from URL, and paste: https://github.com/DozenTwelve/diablo2-tracker/releases/latest/download/d2r-collection-tracker.zip Open the plugin, hit “Get item icons” once (takes about a minute), then hit “Open collection”. Limitations - Offline characters only. Online (Battle.net) characters live on Blizzard’s servers, so there’s no way to read them. - Works on PC and Steam Deck, including Reign of the Warlock saves. No console support (Well, I’m aware that for some consoles, you can export your save files if you put in a bit of effort—but I’d rather not mess with any of that.). - The organizing rules are fixed. If you want your own, you can coding the rule file or run the organize-stash skill in the repo with an AI coding agent like Claude Code. I’ll be hanging around in the comments, so ask me anything. Bug reports and feature ideas are welcome here or on GitHub issues. Happy hunting!
